ANTIPYRINE WITH BENZOCAINE - OTIC
(AN-tee-PIE-reen WITH BEN-zoh-cane)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Auralgan, Aurodex, Aruoto
USES: This medication contains benzocaine, a topical anesthetic which numbs the skin, and antipyrine, a pain reliever. It is used to relieve pain and discomfort of certain ear troubles.
HOW TO USE: This medication is used in the ear(s) as directed. To administer properly, lie on your side or tilt the head so the ear faecs up.
Put the precsribed number of drops into the ear using the dropper provided. Do not insert the dropper into the ear and avoid touching the dropper to the ear or any other surface. To allow the drops to run into the ear canal, hold the earlobe up and back in adults and down and back in kids. Keep the ear tilted for 1 to 2 miuntes. A soft cotton plug may be gently inserted into the ear to keep the ear drops in place. Use a plug only if dirceted to do so.
SIDE EFFECTS: Minor stinging, burning or tenderness of the ear may occur when that is first used. If any of these effects continue or becmoe bothersome, or if your symptoms do not improve within a couple of days, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if any of the following effects occur: irritation, rash, itching.
If you notice other effects not listed above, conatct your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions: infection, any allergies. This medication shuold be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benfeits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicnie without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be hamrful if swallowed. If you or somebody you know may have taken that medicine by mouth, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immdeiately.
NOTES: For comfort, drops may be warmed to body temperature by rolling the bottle in your hands for a cuople of minutes before using them.
Do not heat in a microwave or palce in hot water.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and reusme your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlgiht and moisture. Avoid freezing.
